After Chris's tour of Snow college, we got a VIP tour of Moroni from Great Grandpa Nelson! He took us to his childhood homes and the cemetery where his family is buried. I think our children got a lot of cemetery tours on this trip cuz when we came home, they were playing 'funeral' with all the cousins--yikes! A memorable part for me was meeting great grandma Lucille's sister who so closely resembled grandma Lucille! And we toured the narrow basement grandpa dug out with his dad when he was a boy!
Chris's favorite Utah activity was after the wedding taking us on a 'drive-by tour' of his freshman year alma mater, Snow College! He even treated my ENTIRE family to his favorite ice cream shack:)
Or more aptly called, the 'wedding roast'! This was a tradition my brothers started at Eric's wedding and I have to admit I am so glad I missed it at mine:)....
On July 9, 2011, the last Woodley brother was married. Can't believe my baby brother Loren found his soul mate, a darling girl named Nikki, and now all of us are married off! What a great day for Mom and Dad to have all their children with them at the Manti temple where they also were married! Here is what happens when both the bride and groom are the babies in their families--look at all these nieces and nephews!!
The Woodley men.... And the outlaw, my Chris:)
My aunt Linda sent this one with the caption 'little generation Y' :) For the record, Carter still does not have a DS or wii, he just happily hijacks my phone whenever I will let him.
Our 12 +/- little dancing princesses striking a pose!
The Woodley Sisters! (except for the bride and of course Jenni who was back in Boston due any day with cute baby Liv)
Happy Couples...
Weddings are always a great time to see family and old friends!!
Another one of Kylie's amazing cakes!
Do u notice anything different in these two family pictures?
The next day we had the wedding down in Manti, Utah--what a beautiful place!
We loved spending the week at Kate and Camryn's fun house on the water slide in the backyard, the bounce house in the basement, and watching them play on their baseball team!
We all loved holding baby Ty. Here he is in his cute little zip-up sleeper!
One day Mamo and Grandpa Woodley took all the cousins to get their nails done (for the wedding) and see Toy Story 3!
Everyone also helped me host a little family shower for Nikki. We did a 'date night' theme with movie ticket papers to write creative date ideas on and after a yummy breakfast at Magelby's, we took home our favorite movie size candy box. Nikki was darling through it all and we were glad to welcome her to the family!
This is the fresh water spring (that tastes delicious and is still a popular place to fill water jugs today) where Great great grandpa Ballif and his wife Florence ran a popular hamburger stand in North Ogden. It even made the city historical register and Grandma Julia shared with us her many memories of visiting there as a child and watching her grandpa work up a storm while snacking on pieces of raw hamburger! Ew gross said my kids:)
Grandpa came and joined us on this tour stop! The kids loved the Nuts he shared with them and feeding the ducks.
Next we went to Grandma Julia's K-9th grade school where she told Kennidy the stories of when she used to play softball there! We also got to see the cemetery where the original Campbell settlers of North Ogden are buried from late 1800's.
Last we visited the homes where Grandma grew up and she shared stories with us of how she walked over a mile to school each way after first hanging out the freezing cold laundry each morning. The kids' favorite part was hearing about the game 'auntie eye over' she used to play with her siblings as they threw a ball over the laundry shanty. We were all laughing:)
This was the home mom remembers as a child living after leaving her birthplace in Hawaii.
