July 2011--Ogden tour with Great Grma Nelson

This is the fresh water spring (that tastes delicious and is still a popular place to fill water jugs today) where Great great grandpa Ballif and his wife Florence ran a popular hamburger stand in North Ogden. It even made the city historical register and Grandma Julia shared with us her many memories of visiting there as a child and watching her grandpa work up a storm while snacking on pieces of raw hamburger! Ew gross said my kids:)

Grandpa came and joined us on this tour stop! The kids loved the Nuts he shared with them and feeding the ducks.

Next we went to Grandma Julia's K-9th grade school where she told Kennidy the stories of when she used to play softball there!

We also got to see the cemetery where the original Campbell settlers of North Ogden are buried from late 1800's.

Last we visited the homes where Grandma grew up and she shared stories with us of how she walked over a mile to school each way after first hanging out the freezing cold laundry each morning. The kids' favorite part was hearing about the game 'auntie eye over' she used to play with her siblings as they threw a ball over the laundry shanty. We were all laughing:)

This was the home mom remembers as a child living after leaving her birthplace in Hawaii.
